Every month I will make 10 copies of a mixtape and hide them in various places in Chicago, Ill. People find them and follow the instructions spelled out inside the tape’s artwork. The goal is to see where this tapes end up and to simply hear people’s thoughts on the music and artists therein. After contacting me their reviews/pictures/whatever will be posted on here for all to see and read. Simple, right? Well, that is the point.
I will also be posting the tracklisting and information on the artsits so as we go along we can all learn about music that may or may not be new to us.
This all started a week ago when, out of boredom, I made a mixtape for no one in particular. The next morning I awoke and came up with this idea for no particular reason save for it just seemed like a fun thing to do. The tapes will be left at various locals across Chicago, primarily ones that would be frequented by a demographic that would appreciate and/or have the ability to play cassette tapes (clubs, bars, record stores, etc.). Mulling it over it simply did not make sense to leave a mixtape in a place such as a grocery store or gas station bathroom.
I hope people enjoy this as much as I think they might. Active participation is the fuel to make this work so I am truly hoping the majority of these tapes will embark on a journey longer and more interesting than simply a garbage can. I guess time will tell.
